Questions we get asked
The first one matters more than most people realise until they try to leave somebody.
- Who owns my domain name?
- You do. It is registered in your name with you as the legal contact, which means you can move it whenever you want without asking permission. If you are currently with a provider who registered your domain to themselves, that is worth checking today rather than at the point you want to leave.
- What happens if I want to move hosting elsewhere?
- You move. The site is built with standard tooling and deploys from a repository you have access to, so another developer can take it on. Nothing is engineered to make leaving painful, which is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight.
- Is hosting included, or is it extra?
- The first year is included in the price of every build, along with the domain. After that it renews annually at a set price. It is not a monthly retainer and it does not bundle in work that has not been done.
- Do you host sites you did not build?
- Sometimes, and it depends what it is. A modern site is usually straightforward. A WordPress install is a different job, and it may be worth reading what a rebuild involves before paying to keep an ageing one running.
