How a build runs

Four stages, and you see the site at every one, so nothing is sprung on you at the end.

  1. Start with a phone call

    What you do, who buys it, what you want the phone to ring about, and which competitors keep coming up. Twenty minutes on the phone gets further than a questionnaire, and it is free.

  2. Design before code

    You see the design and sign it off before anything gets built. Changing a layout at this stage costs an afternoon; changing it after the build costs considerably more, which is why nobody skips this.

  3. Built and put on a staging link

    The site gets built for real and handed to you on a private address to click through on your own phone. Send back anything that is wrong and it gets fixed before launch, not after.

  4. Launch, then it is yours

    Domain pointed, SSL on, sitemap submitted and Google Business Profile updated to match. Once the final payment clears, the site, the domain and the design assets belong to you.

How long does a website take?
Usually two to four weeks for a small business site, from the first conversation to going live. The part that varies is not the building, it is how quickly photos, text and sign-off come back. Sites where the client has their content ready go live noticeably faster.
Do you use templates or WordPress?
Neither. Designs are drawn for your business rather than adapted from something built for someone else's, and the build is hand-coded on Next.js instead of WordPress. That is what removes the plugins, the monthly licences and the security patching treadmill. The comparison is written up here if you want the detail.
What do you need from me?
Your logo if you have one, photos of your actual work, and a rough idea of what you want each page to say. If you do not have photos, that gets flagged early because it is the single biggest difference between a site that looks credible and one that looks like everyone else's. Copy can be written for you.
How much does a website cost?
Starter sites of one to five pages start at £495 and business sites of five to fifteen pages start at £850. That is a one-time fee, split 50% upfront and 50% on launch, with the first year of hosting and the domain included. There is no monthly charge keeping it online.
What happens once it is live?
It keeps being looked after. Maintenance covers patches, dependencies and uptime, and updates cover the changes you ask for, like new photos or a price that has moved. You are not left with a site and a login and best wishes.
