What the business needed

BR Apparel Ltd has decorated workwear in Bradford since 2013. Baljit Rai has been in the trade since he was thirteen, started an embroidery digitising business in 2003 and now works alongside his son. The business embroiders, screen prints and DTF prints uniforms and PPE for hospitality, manufacturing, construction, logistics, care homes and hotels.

The site was a local-SEO lead generator for that trade. Partway through the engagement the people enquiring changed: fewer buyers with a uniform budget, more founders with an idea for a clothing brand. In September 2026 the client sent a punch list and the instruction was to action absolutely everything, including the homepage, so the navigation now leads with own-label clothing and workwear remains the side door.

What was built

Around 86 pages: sector pages for each industry, ten area pages from Leeds to Skipton, seven brand-reseller pages, long-form guides on hi-vis, DTF, embroidery versus print and uniform buying, a showroom visit flow, a blog, three paid landing pages and the own-label section with its garment catalogue, pricing and a multi-step intake form that takes artwork through Uploadcare and generates a PDF brief.

A trade quote tool encodes the real 2026 rate cards for embroidery, screen print and DTF, with carriage bands and garment weights, and produces a branded two-page PDF. A scripted chatbot captures leads with a honeypot. The footer collapses its long link lists with native details elements so every link stays in the served HTML for crawlers, and a comment tells the next developer not to improve that into click-to-render.

An imagery audit removed AI-generated pictures, a competitor's photographs that had been used as 'our facility', and stock with a visible watermark, and replaced them with a real shoot. The copy states exactly which decoration methods are in-house and which go to a named Bradford trade partner, because a buyer who finds out later does not come back.

Titles budgeted at 47 characters

A metadata builder enforces a title length and puts the brand name last, with an inline comment citing the Search Console click-through data that justified it.

No invented testimonials

The own-label section has no reviews yet because none exist. The change log records that inventing them is forbidden. Fifteen directory listings were built instead.

Consent gates everything

Two GA4 properties, Google Ads and the self-hosted analytics script all load only after opt-in, coordinated with the chatbot so the two floating panels never overlap.

A 300-entry change log

Every change is logged by the minute, including mistakes caught, and the log is the source for the client's monthly PDF report.

Getting it found

Structured data combines LocalBusiness and ClothingStore with founder, hours, service area and offers, plus Service and Product markup on brand pages and breadcrumb and FAQ builders. Content was written against named terms from the keyword research: 'what is DTF printing', the highest-volume term found at roughly three and a half times anything else, 'embroidery bradford', and a hi-vis guide that reached position 4.8.

A speed pass recompressed 74 images from 15.5MB to 7.4MB, took the static export from 32MB to 24MB and cut the blog's largest contentful paint, originally 6.3 seconds, by converting seven images to WebP.

Since launch

Site-wide average Search Console position moved from 33.5 before the work to 25.1 at the June baseline, 17.5 in July and 15.2 in the last tracked fortnight, with impressions up from 28.8 to 40.2 a day. Of 25 tracked queries, 20 improved between June and July, 45 new queries appeared and eight pages ranked for the first time. The log notes the caveat itself: about 40% of impressions in that window were US traffic with no clicks, which flatters the average. UK-only, the site earned 117 clicks from 1,269 impressions.
